Music Memories from an Old Phonograph

I fancy music and I have so many youthful reminiscence regarding it. My parents love the timeless tunes, they could move to the music in our living room even with no shoes on. I had observed the two of them move to the old music of Glenn Miller, Guy Lombardo and Sinatra. My mama and papa could jiggerbug like no one I have ever seen.They had get-togethers every Saturday night and the music would continue for hours after I had gone to bed. While I rested my back on the bed, the sound of music and the tittering of the people below were what I could hear. I always enjoyed dozing off that way. It made me feel I was in paradise. My papa and mama would agree if I remained up late from time to time in order that I could appreciate gazing at them move their bodies to the beat. My dad would even bear me in his arms as we danced. Those experiences are invaluable which my heart will always treasure. My papa and mama felt that I needed to have my own phonograph when I grew older and they bought me one. My phonograph played the music of Elvis Presley, Doris Day, the Beatles and more in particular Motown since it's what I like the most. The phonograph which Mr. Edison made has been a cause for happiness and excitement. You deserve all the credit for a wonderful discovery.

When Mr. Thomas Alva Edison made a recording of the phrase taken from the nursery rhyme "Mary had a little lamb" in 1877, in the month of October, this launched the process of making a record of sounds for man. The people eventually dwindling its appeal on Mr. Edison's machine was a shocker. From the invention to generating an archetype, to conducting a presentation at the New York's Scientific American, the Edison Speaking Phonograph Company was subsequently put up by 1878. Manufacture of the machine began, and several were pushed in the market turning it an immediate success. The attention of society on the contrary faded after everything that it has accomplished.The newness of the phonograph wore off and Edison turned his interest to the inventing of the incandescent light bulb.

The interest on developing the device merely shifted back when Alexander Graham Bell, his cousin, Chichester A. Bell and Charles Sumner Tainter tried to get a patent for it in 1886, on the 4th day of May. Edison made up his mind that it must be him who must work on its improvements.Bell and Tainter contacted Edison for a possible alliance, however Edison would not hear of it (no pun intended), snubbed and produced an advanced, more sophisticated form of the device itself. By 1887 on 8th of October, he opened the Edison Phonograph Company to promote his discovery.The rest, they say, is history.

From the cylinder phonograph to the invention of the LP record or long-playing record, a new genre was introduced and it only verifies that phonographs never finished progressing as the years went by.The sound was finer, played longer with fewer disruptions.

Phonograph turntables today are still accessible in the market. Still possess those old records from your parents or yours perhaps? I still have mine. My Elvis records still play great music and I also have a number of my parent's favorite records with me and they as well still sound magnificent.
