Every entertainment unit will depend on a secure connection to the various subunits to have a cohesive and legible output. Whether it is music or video, the speaker cable plays in important role.

There are many uses for the cable that has been an integral part of almost every conceivable device that is in use in the modern home. There are speakers for even the garage doors and for the cat outlet door. The home video and audio are of course having their own separate connections.

Any good audio system will have a good speaker. And it needs to be connected in a proper manner to the speakers. For this we use the speaker wires which are normally copper stranded in plastic insulation. The cost of the system will depend on how big the layout really is.

Many of the speaker wires are made of simple copper sire. They are useful in connecting the system to the output device.

The insulated copper wire is now as common place as the air we breathe. Once upon a time there were people who used gold and silver wires. But these did not prove economical.

The wires are arranged to and fro from the various audio and video devices and the amplifier or speaker circuits and attached within the wall or let to hang loose as the case may be. The types of wiring used in the case may be solid or separate. The connections at the ends of the wires are termed as 'terminations".

Many of the normal connections use bare wire termination. There may be terminations which are crimped pin, spade or 2-pin DIN connectors.

For all practical purposes, the AMG is the measure of wire size. The American Wire Gauge gives us a measure of the thickness of the wire.
